Traveling to Athens via Volos

I wasn’t a math major but when the tour director says we’re 5 hours from Athens and you’re on the bus from 8:45 am to 7:30 pm (even with the stop for lunch)...something doesn’t add up. (It feels a little like when I was young - and hated long car rides even then - and my Mom would tell me Sea World was 2 hours away when it was really 4 and a half hours...).

We stopped in a lovely coastal town, Volos, for lunch. Seafood theme today.

 

 


Grilled octopus, sardines, cod, anchovies and crayfish. I forgot to take a photo of the shrimp. Here’s what Jen thought of the fried anchovy:




But there was dessert!


Then a stop to see monuments from the battle between the Spartans and the Thespians. You may  notice that warriors (athletes) trained and fought naked. We question that practice.
